Rum Runners Trail

Municipality of Chester

Constructed along the former railway from Halifax to Lunenburg, the Rum Runners Trail links seven easy to explore, shared-use trails.

Our Municipality of Chester operates the Aspotogan Trail connecting Hubbards to East River (11km) and the Chester Connection Trail connecting East River to Martins River (35 km).

The surface of the trail is crusher dust and this, combined with the flat terrain, makes it ideal for easy travel. This is a multiuse trail so you should expect to see walkers, cyclists, off-highway vehicles and even horseback riders. In the winter, you may come across people on snowmobiles, skiing and snowshoeing.

An amazing adventure to coastal communities.
