About the Municipality of Chester

From Hubbards to Martins River and inland to New Ross and Sherwood, Our Municipality of Chester is the gateway to the South Shore of Nova Scotia.

For ease of exploring we've broken down our Municipality into five main areas.

Located in Kespukwitk (Lands End) district of Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and traditional lands of the Mi'kmaq people. The Municipality acknowledges the Peace and Friendship Treaties signed and recognizes that we are all Treaty People. We acknowledge the responsibility to deeply engage and move forward with the work of truth, reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

Ruby's Trail

New Ross

The start of Ruby's Trail is located just behind the New Ross Credit Union. This is an easy to navigate trail full of surprises and great views.

Opened in 2017 to honour Ruby Murphy and as a thank you to the community, the land around Ruby's Trail is a working Christmas Tree farm owned by the Murphy Family.

There are some steep inclines so be prepared. It is worth the effort to visit Twig's Chalet and Ruby's Spot at the top. This is a great location for families and a picnic.
