About the Municipality of Chester

From Hubbards to Martins River and inland to New Ross and Sherwood, Our Municipality of Chester is the gateway to the South Shore of Nova Scotia.

For ease of exploring we've broken down our Municipality into five main areas.

Located in Kespukwitk (Lands End) district of Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral and traditional lands of the Mi'kmaq people. The Municipality acknowledges the Peace and Friendship Treaties signed and recognizes that we are all Treaty People. We acknowledge the responsibility to deeply engage and move forward with the work of truth, reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.

The Chester Playhouse has been bringing community together since 1938. Operated by the community for the community, The Chester Playhouse presents local, national, and international performers and material.

Enjoy music, theatre, movies, and community events all year long.

The lower, upper lobby, second floor and balcony, and theatre are accessible. The theatre is also equipped with a Bluetooth Hearing Loop System. Service animals are also permitted.
