Wildfire Prevention Measures – Restrictions on Activities in the Woods.

Nova Scotia has restricted activities in the woods and banned open fires. Restrictions are in place as of August 5 at 4pm until October 15, or until the Province lifts the restrictions. There is a $25,000 fine for violating these restrictions.

In the matter of the Municipal Government Act and the  Municipality of the District of Chester

TAKE NOTICE THAT on Thursday, July 31, 2025, Chester Municipal Council provided intention to enterinto an Amending Development Agreement with Bear Lake Wind Farm Ltd. And Atlantic Star ForestryLtd to permit the development of one wind turbine with combined maximum generating capacity of   eight and one half (8.5) megawatts and maximum height of 215 metres at PID 60408820, Highway  (north of Sherwood).

A PUBLIC HEARING will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at 8:45 a.m. and is being held in Municipal Council Chambers (151 King Street, Chester).

Residents can give their opinions at the Public Hearing by speaking in person or sending written comments to:  Pamela Myra, Municipal Clerk, 151 King Street, PO Box 369, Chester, NS B0J 1J0 or pmyra@chester.ca.

Comments must be received before 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 4th, 2025.

Council may vote to approve or reject the proposed Development Agreement at the Council Meeting which will follow the conclusion of the Public Hearing.
