Wildfire Prevention Measures – Restrictions on Activities in the Woods.

Nova Scotia has restricted activities in the woods and banned open fires. Restrictions are in place as of August 5 at 4pm until October 15, or until the Province lifts the restrictions. There is a $25,000 fine for violating these restrictions.

Friday, August 16 & Saturday, August 17

New Ross Community Fair at the New Ross Fairgrounds Hwy 12. Horse (no pony) and Ox Pulling both days. Oxen to be on grounds by 9:00 am; Friday and Pulling Horses to be on grounds by 10:00 am on Friday. Stage Entertainment, Booths, Tug of War, Games, Bingo, etc. Competitions:  Christmas Tree & Wreath Competition; Light Horse Competitions; Chainsaw Filing/Fast Cut Competition; Antique Chainsaw Competition & Open Class (Hot Saw) Competition; Cross Cut Saw Competition; Arm Wrestling Competition; Steer Pull for Teamsters Under 16 (Teams must be under 2100 lbs.). Daily Admission:  Adults $6, Under 12 $2 and Under 5 are FREE. Two-day Pass $10. Parking $3 or FREE (in field). Meals:  Dinner from 12:00 to 1:00 pm. Adults $16, Under 12 $5 and Under 5 FREE.
