Literary Readings and Q&A

Community Event

The Black Harbour Distillery will host Hubbards’ first literary event of the season on the afternoon of October 30th.  This event will follow directly after live music by XXXXX which ends at 4:00. Authors and poets will read from their works, followed by a Q & A and author signings. The FREE event runs from 4:00 to 5:30 and all are welcome to this family event.

Visiting authors include Heather Veinotte – author and playwright – from Northfield near Bridgewater with first public reading from her short story collection: Before the Dawn. Each story is set along the South Shore and the collection is described as “very creepy.” Great for the day before Hallowe’en.

Bonnie Baird, Nova Scotia poet, will read from her poetic works and her contribution to Gathering In, written during the COVID lockdown in Nova Scotia between May and July of 2020.

Lorraine McQueen, a Hantsport author will read from her literary novel: DIY Family. Lorraine was head librarian at Acadia and has written this first novel about a librarian at Acadia University. Her themes are independent women finding happiness in life.

Well-known Nova Scotia writer Philip Moscovitch, from Glen Margaret, will read from Gathering In and from his book: Adventures in Bubbles and Brine: East coast practitioners of fermentation-based food and drink — from beer and wine to cheese and sauerkraut.

It is hoped this will be the first of a monthly reading series wherein Nova Scotia writers can share their writing. If you are a published author interested to read at a monthly event, please write to Pat at editpat001@gmail.com with Interested author in the email title.

This is a third party event and has not been verified by the Municipality.
