Wildfire Prevention Measures – Restrictions on Activities in the Woods.

Nova Scotia has restricted activities in the woods and banned open fires. Restrictions are in place as of August 5 at 4pm until October 15, or until the Province lifts the restrictions. There is a $25,000 fine for violating these restrictions.

GRANT WORKSHOP FOR INDIVIDUALS & COMMUNITY GROUP LEADERS

Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage-Grant Workshop at the Black Point Community Centre (Black Point Fire Hall, 8579 St. Margaret’s Bay Road) from 3:00 to 5:00 pm.  Hugh MacKay, MLA for Chester St. Margaret’s, will be hosting a workshop on the grant process with members from the Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage.  There will be representatives from Culture & Heritage, Sport & Rec, and Communities.  This will be an all-encompassing event for community groups!  The session will include:  overview of the Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage; overview of grants & programs available; question and answer period; grant tips session.  Staff will be bringing with them copies of the CCH Funding & Programs booklet and several specific applications as well as the Positive Aging Directories.  For more info, or to register, call 902-826-0222.
